Vitamin D measured in blood is 25(OH)D3 but this article will refer to the active form of Vitamin D3 which is called 1,25(OH)D3 or Calcitriol.

Calcitriol is used primarily in calcium homeostasis, keeping calcium levels balanced, regulating along with co-factors, bone remodelling, which is the breaking down and building up of the skeleton.

Calcitriol is evidenced to prevent and reduce the severity of many diverse conditions including cardiovascular and metabolic diseases, autoimmune disorders and infection as well as cancer.
